Following the introduction of new security regulatory expectations, French municipalities sought solutions that combined discretion, immediacy, and technical resilience. The stakes are high: to equip educational institutions with a system that could trigger a crisis response in real time, without depending on public telecom infrastructure, and without burdening school staff with complex technical management.

Axians  introduced  VigiALERT, a secure, all-in-one alert system built specifically for public safety. Designed for simplicity and reliability, VigiALERT brings together fixed alert devices like VigiBox, mobile tools such as VigiRemote and VigiCARE, and both indoor and outdoor sirens like VigiSono.

All components connect via a dedicated TETRA, DMR, and LoRa radio network, ensuring continuous operation even during power or network failures. As of today, Axians deployed more than 2000 pieces of equipment to protect around 250 sites.

The solution is designed to meet the requirement for high availability by ensuring a full backup power supply and a secure transmission channel.

The system also enables two-way communication with municipal police or CSU urban supervision centers and provides real time technical supervision and fault alerts to ensure operational continuity.

Importantly, VigiALERT is scalable and can be integrated into broader local emergency plans. Indeed, “the device allows schools to immediately alert the municipal police or a CSU. The alert can also be picked up by other schools in the same municipality,” says Christophe Blanc.

This interconnectedness empowers multiple public spaces, including schools, hospitals, cultural sites, and even markets or town halls, to benefit from a shared, unified safety network.

Today, dozens of municipalities have adopted VigiALERT with Axians  to secure their educational institutions. The impact is tangible: improved preparedness, faster response coordination and safer environments for citizens.
