Ensuring hospital infrastructure can be used for patients themselves, rather than for training with dedicated training space

Nipro-iMEP is responsible for the training of their own staff and customers throughout EMEA. Covid-19 travel restrictions made Nipro-iMEP look for a highly interactive tele-education system. Axians supported Nipro Europe Group Companies with Barco weConnect Hybrid Virtual Classroom to facilitate remote learning, with 48 seats remote and 30 seats local. This allowed medical trainees to continue learning at the Nipro Institute of Medical Practice.

About Nipro-iMEP

Nipro Europe Group Companies is part of NIPRO CORPORATION Japan, a leading global healthcare company dedicated to developing and delivering innovative and patient-oriented products for healthcare professionals, patients, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Nipro Corporation, founded in 1954, draws upon decades of expertise in the healthcare industry – always with the patient’s best interests in mind. While the bulk of Nipro’s business lies in the Medical Devices sector, Nipro also serves the pharmaceutical industry with its own generic products, contract manufacturing, and production of primary packaging for parenteral drugs.

Nipro has his own Institute of Medical Practice, or iMEP. iMEP is designed to train medical professionals, as well as Nipro’s own staff.

With simulated hospital rooms, operating rooms, and training rooms, hospitals can rely on Nipro to have their staff trained at our iMEP facility – ensuring that the hospital infrastructure can be used for patients themselves, rather than for training.

Nipro-iMEP is responsible for the training of their own staff & customers throughout EMEA.

Covid-19 travel restrictions made Nipro-iMEP look for a highly interactive tele-education system.

The choice for Barco weConnect was made based on:

  • Hybrid; supports both local & remote trainees
  • The ease-of-use for the trainer
  • Seeing and hearing all remote 48 trainees continuously in high quality
  • High level of interaction via chat, polling, quiz and whiteboarding

The set-up

The set-up is built around a video wall of 4×4 55” flat screens, showing 6 remote trainees per screen with a maximum total of 48 remote trainees.

The trainer is captured via a Presenter Auto-Tracking camera and wears a positioner around his/her neck.

The trainer uses a 55” Samsung Flip Whiteboard & Touch (mobile – electrical height adjustable) screen but control the weConnect session as well as using the electronic whiteboard function.

An extra 75” (mobile – electrical height adjustable) flat screen is used to display local and remote presentations shared during the weConnect session.
