Moving into a new campus means bringing an entire working environment into service. At Hochschule Ruhr West (HRW), Axians helped ensure that the networks were ready when the doors opened.

As new buildings took shape in Bottrop and Mülheim an der Ruhr, the university needed its digital infrastructure to progress alongside construction. Axians supported network design, procurement and installation, adapting as building details became available.

That flexibility extended to purchasing. An existing framework agreement allowed HRW to order equipment as construction advanced, avoiding the need to buy and store everything upfront. Axians also provided additional staff at short notice when needed.

The resulting infrastructure brought together campus-wide Wi-Fi, security, and a redundant network backbone. It also supported telephony, chat and videoconferencing, including rooms equipped with large screens and cameras that followed the speaker.

By move-in day, the infrastructure was fully operational. Stable network, telephone and Wi-Fi services allowed HRW’s IT team to concentrate on daily university operations. Meanwhile, videoconferencing supported collaboration with academic and industry partners and interviews with international candidates.

Axians’ contribution connected construction planning with operational readiness, giving HRW both a functioning campus environment and the tools to collaborate beyond it.
